A map has always existed for this journey. Nine people from different generations, different cultures, different life circumstances described the same six landmarks on the way to becoming self-forgiving. What you hold in your hands — and what this institute offers — is that map. You get to decide when you are ready.

Dr. Diana Smith is a licensed professional counselor, mental health specialist, and the founder of the Self-Forgiveness Institute. Her doctoral dissertation, A Heuristic Study of Self-Forgiveness (Capella University, 2016), asked one question: what is the lived experience of becoming self-forgiving? The answer — six themes, three categories, nine co-researchers — became the map this institute is built on.
